Welcome to Cottage Home Neighborhood!
Our neighborhood has been described by the news media as “cool,” “historic,” “hip,” “funky”, and “up-and-coming”. It is all these things and more! We hope to provide you with information to help you navigate the neighborhood.
There is a lot to be said for Cottage Home Neighborhood:
- A creek runs through it (Pogue’s Run)
- We have a playground in the 700 block of Dorman Street
- Several Schools are close by, including IPS Arsenal Tech High School, IPS Harshman Middle School, IPS Center for Inquiry (K-8)
- There is easy access to both the Monon and Cultural Trails
- It is less that a 2-mile hike to the Circle, and only a few minutes stroll to the Massachusetts Avenue cultural, shopping and dining corridor
The Cottage Home Neighborhood Association is comprised of neighbors actively engaged in efforts to make our neighborhood an even better place to live. The association represents your interests at zoning hearings, Near Eastside Community Organization (NESCO) meetings, conservation efforts and many other public forums. We have fought successfully to get Cottage Home Neighborhood off the Federal Flood Plain maps, created and maintain the Cottage Home Park and Playground on Dorman Street, and the Community Gardens and shelter on Highland Avenue.
The annual Block Party held each October is a fun and unique event that should not be missed. In alternate years we host a Home and Garden tour – watch our Events page for more information. You are encouraged to be a part of all this, as well as serving on committees such as History and Archives, Fundraising, and Conservation. Please join the Cottage Home Neighborhood Association.
