DESCRIPTION:FREE – ALL AGES \nTHE HOLLOW ENDS\nThe Hollow Ends is a Saint Louis\, Missouri folk-rock act created by songwriter Zachary Schwartz. The primary drive of the music comes from fleeting tempos\, pounding drums and a distorted hollow body guitar\, focusing the energy and function of punk and rock through the lens of roots/Americana. Schwartz’s songwriting draws on the socially conscious spirit of anthemic choruses more common among punk rock bands like Bad Religion and Pennywise\, but with a pared down\, minimalist ambiance and tone of folk acts like Brown Bird\, Shakey Graves or Avett Brothers.\nSchwartz started The Hollow Ends alone in the summer of 2014\, occasionally sharing Saint Louis stages with other musicians from near and far. After playing a handful of basic guitar + vocal “singer-songwriter” gigs\, it became clear that the music would benefit significantly by involving a more folk-rock sound. Through adding a kick drum and tambourine\, rehashing old songs and developing new material\, a sound eventually took shape.\nAs The Hollow Ends\, Schwartz released a self-titled debut EP in the summer of 2015. The 3-song record (stream below) will demonstrate a more fleshed-out version of the songs\, including drums and auxiliary percussion\, a measured level of electric guitars\, and harmony vocals. It will also enlist additional STL talent like bassist Charles Clements\, violinist Jenn Rudisill\, singer Tawaine Noah and trumpeters Pat Swan and Ethan Payer. Schwartz continues to write new material for a THE full-length set for a not-so-near future TBA release.\nSchwartz is currently pursuing his PhD in Political Science\, but will continue to tour as much as possible between semesters and when time allows during. Schwartz is currently in the early writing stages in creating material for his first full-length release\, set for a not-so-near-future release. The foreseeable future includes playing shows\, writing songs and spreading the good word of The Hollow Ends.

T. of Primal Static sings and plays without reservation\, dripping with raw emotion. His exquisitely thought provoking lyrics are second to none. Keyboardist/bassist Houfei brings up the rhythm section with her elastic soulful bass and wonderful classically trained keyboard playing. The band uses innovative trance beats to round out their incredibly unique sound sculpture. Primal Static is the definitive live band\, with expert musicianship and charismatic presence. Live shows have been the backbone of the Primal Static experience flooring audiences from all over the country! \nG.T. and HouFei are life-long musicians\, uniting two very different cultures. G. T. has been steadily working on the creation of a new band. With a strong personality and music to match\, his modern\, exciting songs and guitar work are winning Primal Static fans worldwide. G.T. became impassioned as a child by Rock and Blues and picked up the guitar which allowed his songwriting to soar. He draws his inspiration from many great musicians from primal blues to modern electronic trance. The passion and edge in his musicianship reflects the various worlds he inhabits\, from traveling troubadour to isolated composer. HouFei once said: “when I met G.T.\, he was like a furious wild fire that lit up life and music for me as I had never known before. I called G.T. a couple of days after we met\, and got his answering machine. A heart wrenching guitar solo greeted me. Time stood still. I couldn’t even speak when the beep sounded. That was my introduction of G. T. the musician.” \nHouFei\, born and raised in China\, started playing piano at 4. HouFei’s route to Primal Static started when she came to the U.S. at 18 on full scholarship after being heard by an American piano professor giving master classes in Shanghai. Since arriving in the states\, she has competed in international piano competitions and won numerous prizes. HouFei has just finished her doctoral degree at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore\, MD. Possessing a profound adoration of the music\, HouFei has found her true home in Primal Static. The electric energy and freedom reflected in the songs completes her. She now uses her vast knowledge of the keyboard for the music she was made for. \nFuture Lover\nColin Lime is Future Lover.  He writes\, records and produces all his music. \nFuture Lover’s sound is a psychedelic journey through inner and outer space\, leading through the darkness and out into the Universe.  We like to call it “Psych-Wave” for short. \nThe debut album\, Summoning was released June 30th\, 2016.  It’s available on all major digital retailers\, and as a beautifully packaged gatefold LP.

He cites Cat Stevens’ Tea For The Tillerman and Paul Simons’ Graceland as two of the albums that changed his life.  As a teen Lee played guitar\, piano and the drums and it was not long before he started to write his own songs. “I discovered that I could turn my thoughts and ideas into a clever song or line.  I fell in love\,” recalls Lee. “I would sit around and write funny or witty songs to make my friends or family laugh.” DeWyze was crowned the winner of  American Idol’s Season 9 in 2010\, DeWyze had a stint working as both a paint salesman and trading floor clerk at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Before he was 20\, he recorded two albums for an independent label in Chicago: So I’m Told and Slumberland. He made his major label debut in 2010 with Live It Up. His critically lauded Frames followed in 2013 and his song “Fight” reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot AC charts for 10 weeks straight. The video\, which Lee produced and created\, won first place at the Los Angeles Indie Film Festival.  2014 was a banner year for Lee as he made major headway as a songwriter. His song “Blackbird Song” was placed in the show The Walking Dead. The song racked up more then 3 million YouTube views\, 2 million Spotify streams and was selected as one of the Top 10 most influential placements in 2014 by the Music Writers Guild of America.  The same year Lee landed a #1 song in Ireland with his song “Lullaby” which was covered by Ronan Keating. He also scored a #3 hit in Italy when his “Magnetic Heart” was recorded by Marco Mengioni.  \nLee DeWyze will embark on an ambitious national tour in 2016 in support Oil & Water.  “I love my fans. SUMMARY:2017 Virginia Avenue Folk Fest
DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Virginia Avenue Folk Fest will be the third annual version of the largest single day music festival in the state of Indiana and one the largest in the country. 100 acts playing across 13 stages take over Virginia Avenue on May 13 throughout the neighborhoods of Fountain Square and Fletcher Place in Indianapolis. The festival is free and all ages. A portion of the proceeds from the event goes to Southeast Community Services in Fountain Square. There will be dozens of art vendors and organizations set up with booths in addition to the music.

Johnson (Fruitbats) 9pm\nAll Ages\n$15 \nFruit Bats (solo)\nOn most nights playing with Fruit Bats\, I do a solo song or two. On drunken chatty nights it can veer from silly to infuriating. But when the feeling in the room is just right\, it can be pretty special. Once I couldn’t get my guitar to tune just right and I had to do an acapella version of Lazy Eye in front of a sold-out Aladdin Theater in Portland. That was scary and awesome. It felt like we were all in a little parlor together and you could hear a pin drop. \nAnyway\, this series of shows is about capturing some living-room spirit in your favorite rock-n-roll clubs. And to make it into a little more something\, I’m going to let fans curate half of the set list every night. People yell out requests a lot (especially on the aforementioned drunken chatty nights\, but on the quiet ones too)… But those requests can be hard to fulfill – I’ve made lot of albums and we don’t rehearse every song with the full band\, so we can’t always just bust those out on the fly. But as a solo dude\, I’m up for the challenge and I’m putting it to you\, Fruit Bats fans: what do you want to hear? \nMichael Nau is joining me on the bill for this tour where he’ll be singing you his timeless songs in a solo format too. You might remember his old band Cotton Jones\, who were and are of my favorites ever. I think he’s a treasure and has one of the ultimate singing voices ever. I’m thrilled he’ll be playing some his for-the-ages songs on this trip. His latest album “Mowing” is a must have.
