The next bi-monthly training will be “Coffee with a Cop”, aimed at breaking down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together–over coffee–to discuss issues and learn more about each other.
One of the keys to Coffee with a Cop’s success is that it removes the physical barriers between officers and residents and happens outside of the crisis situations that routinely define interactions between law enforcement officials and community members. Instead it allows for relaxed, informal one-on-one interactions in a friendly atmosphere.
The IMPD will also like to answer questions before the event date. So please if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send them to me and you will surely get back your answers before the May 4th. We want to do this to help ease the tension amongst immigrants and refugees. Thank you and don’t forget to mark your calendar and reserve your spot.
