Cottage Home History, Hot Cocoa, and Cookies

March 19, 2023 @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm

Come learn about Cottage Home Neighborhood’s early history, dating back to 1865 when it was first platted!

This interactive presentation will help us all get to know who lives in the neighborhood presently and what was here in the past. Neighbor Joan Hostetler, a photo historian and archivist who has gathered CoHo’s history since the 1980s, will take us on a street-by-street tour showcasing historic photographs, documents, and maps in a then-and-now format.

Stay after the presentation to chat with neighbors, view old maps of the area, and fill out a form to record former occupants of your house or lot (from old city directories).

Please RSVP using the form below so we can provide enough snacks and nametags!

Then and now: 700 block
of Highland Avenue.
Five houses, including the
home of John Amandus von
Spreckelsen, (at left) were once
on the Community Space lots
(below).
