Volunteer

1617355_10152320032283480_7803417037685822432_oThe Cottage Home Neighborhood Association is continually seeking volunteers to help maintain and improve our neighborhood and the community space/playground.  We have various committees in the
neighborhood (see below) and other events/activities that need volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering on one of the committees, please contact a committee chair for details.  If you would like to see other volunteer opportunities, please visit our Volunteer Spot page or view our Events page for upcoming events/activities.  Most of these events will need many volunteers to be successful, your time and man-power is greatly appreciated.  Upcoming events can also be found our Facebook & Twitter pages.  Interested volunteers can contact us at the information below or talk to one of your favorite board members for details (see the Neighborhood Association page for a list of current board members).

Committees:

Communications – Committee Chair: Christy Cashin

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

  • Organizes incoming articles/photos for the Urban Times
  • Writes articles for the Urban Times
  • Maintains and runs neighborhood website and calendar

Conservation – Committee Chair: Andy Beck

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

  • Reviews all proposed new construction in the neighborhood
  • Confirms all new construction meets the conservation codes
  • Educates people the conservation codes

Fundraising – Committee Chair: Andrew Kienle

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

  • Organizes events/fundraisers, such as Block Party and Home & Garden Tour
  • Brainstorms new ideas to raise funds for the neighborhood
  • Contacts area businesses for donations and sponsorships

Fundraising Sub-Committees:

Block Party – Committee Chair: Madeline Hutchins

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

        • Organizes vendors/music/activities
        • Organizes set-up & teardown of event
        • Manages incoming & outgoing funds

 

Home & Garden Tour – Committee Chair: Maribeth Bailey & Andrew Kienle

        • Decides on homes & contacts home owners
        • Organizes advertisement & sponsorship for event
        • Organizes events activities

 

Vintage & Artisan Market – Committee Chair: Bob Renaker

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

        • Contacts & organizes vendors
        • Organizes events activities

Land Use – Committee Chair: Nancy Bain

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

  • Organizes neighborhood clean-ups
  • Maintains gardens/prairies throughout the neighborhood
  • Lawn mowing of CHNA properties
  • Garden plots in community space

Land Use Sub-Committee:

Playground – Committee Chair: Melissa Deer

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

        • Organizes playground events/fundraisers, such as Jungle Gym Jam
        • Maintains playground by having monthly playground clean-ups
        • Maintains cleanliness & safety of the micro library

Membership – Committee Chair: Jess Teipen

Some of the projects that this committee oversees:

  • Communicates the perks of becoming a Cottage Home member
  • Collects funds and information from residents signing-up for a Cottage Home membership
  • Maintains a database of all active members
